What’s new at Tahoe ski resorts in 2016

LAKE TAHOE’S 2015-16 WINTER SEASON is in full swing. Visitors can enjoy new terrain parks, a new high-speed ski lift, and awesome après ski dining experiences:

Mountain Improvements
NORTHSTAR CALIFORNIA RENOVATES GONDOLA
Skiers and snowboarders experience improved mountain access this winter with Northstar’s newly revamped Big Springs Express Gondola. The mountain tram connects The Village at Northstar to mid-mountain.

SQUAW VALLEY REPLACES SIBERIA EXPRESS
The Squaw Valley Siberia Express chairlift, a favorite of intermediate to advanced skiers and snow-boarders, has been replaced with a high-speed six-passenger chairlift. The Siberia Express chairlift provides access to Siberia Bowl, Mainline and the Mainline Terrain Park, as well as the Gold Coast area.

SUGAR BOWL OPENS NEW TERRAIN PARK
The resort has opened a new terrain park. It is located below the Mt. Lincoln Express Chairlift and is accessible from both Mt. Lincoln Express and the Christmas Tree Express Chairlift.

Cross-Country Adventures
ADVENTURE CENTER AT TAHOE DONNER
Tahoe Donner has opened the Alder Creek Adventure Center. The center is the new home for the Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area and will host the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center and Tahoe Donner Bikeworks during the summer months.

VILLAGE STATION AT SUGAR BOWL
The resort opened a new cross-country rental, lesson and gear room near the Mt. Disney Express chairlift, helping to connect the downhill ski runs and the cross-country trails of Royal Gorge.

North Tahoe Experiences
CAL NEVA RESORT REOPENING
After an extensive renovation, the iconic Cal Neva resort is set to open in late spring. The 10-story, 191-room luxury resort features luxurious accommodations, three restaurants, the Cal Neva’s signature Circle Bar, resort spa and entertainment options.

RESORT AT SQUAW CREEK RENOVATIONS
Guest rooms have been refinished with warm wood tones, rich leather and natural stone. New artwork from local photographers such as Jeff Dow Photography (whose work is featured in our magazine) also was incorporated into the room design.

FIS FREESTYLE WORLD CUP
The best skiers and riders from around the world visit Squaw Valley for the FIS Freestyle World Cup on March 11-13. The 2016 competition features Ski and Snowboard Cross racing, pitting four athletes against each other to race head-to-head down a course of jumps, bumps and berms.

Aprés Ski
Diners at the RITZ-CARLTON MANZANITA AT NORTHSTAR can experience a six-course tapas tasting, featuring views into the exposition kitchen and conversations with the chef.

At Squaw, MTN. ROOTS FOOD TRUCK offers an eclectic mix of regionally sourced food. Find quick bites as well as more substantial options for sit-down meals. Rocker@Squaw in the Village is the newest hotspot for food, cold brews and signature drinks featuring cock- tails such as the Bloody Mary (Titos Vodka, housemade spicy Bloody Mary mix, floated with Guinness, with all the fixings).
