Chinese travel industry tour group visits the Sierra Foothills

“We just completed a fam tour of Gold Country for China Visit USA, with some dramatic surprises for both our Chinese and California participants,” said Lex Matteini, press manager of the Nevada City Chamber. “Here we’re being informed that this pair of antique banners, part of a private collection of Chinese Gold Rush artifacts, is signed by a Ming Emperor. We expect increasing interest in Gold Country among independent travelers from China, especially as we digitize our history and make it accessible to Chinese netizens.”

Lex added: ” Thanks Jeff Pelline co-sponsor of the China Visit Tour Jason Lu fam trip.”

Our magazine, Sierra FoodWineArt, was glad to make a cash donation to help make this visit possible. We think it has real potential. This marks an historic first for Nevada City to be included as a feature destination, along with Yosemite, for the largest and fastest-growing segment of overseas visitors to California. In 2015, more visitors came to California from China than from Australia, Japan, or any European country.
