Starry, Starry Nights on July 16

IMAGINE BEING SWEPT BACK IN time to an elegant evening soiree, akin to the Gatsby era. Guests are decked out in white attire, and dine and dance under the stars on lush grounds.

Welcome to Starry, Starry Nights, a popular summer event in the foothills for 19 years. More than 300 guests will mix and mingle under the stars at the historic Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley on Sat., July 16.

“We invite everyone to come and enjoy Starry, Starry Nights,” says Gil Mathew, event co-chair. “With everyone dressed in white and the park covered in lights, it is a magical sight to see and a unique experience to dine, dance and star gaze.”

The event is hosted by the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation to benefit vital local health programs. “It is an incredible evening and ensures that our community has access to important healthcare programs,” says Kimberly Parker, executive director of the Foundation.

The evening includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner, premium wines, beer, waters, desserts and dancing. Award-winning wines from Naggiar, Sierra Starr and Smith), will be poured during the evening.

The Jay Rolerz dance band will play hits from ’40s to the present for dancing the night away. Dinner will be prepared by Antonio’s Custom Catering, whose owner helped represent California at the world’s largest cooking competition, the Culinary Olympics in Germany.

There will be a no-host cocktail bar, complimentary wine and beer bar.

The “dessert tent,” with sweets such as a chocolate tower for dipping strawberries, is a much-anticipated treat.

The Nevada County Astronomers, whose motto is “bringing astronomy to the public,” will have their telecopes set up for star gazing.

Reservations are $125 per person (with $75 tax deductible) and need to be booked no later than July 8.
