TAHOE/TRUCKEE HAS ALL THE CULTURAL bases covered this summer and fall: The area hosts the Shakespeare Festival, Autumn Food & Wine Festival and the Tahoe Music Festival. The traditions draw tens of thousands of people annually.

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival runs July 9-Aug. 22, presenting The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), a humorous compilation of 37 of “The Bard’s” plays. The outdoor stage on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, at Sand Harbor, is a spectacular setting.

Now in its 38th season, the festival is one of the premier summer events in the Sierra, drawing 30,000 people annually. It also has a new executive director, Bob Taylor, who has extensive theater festival experience.

In addition, the festival is presenting live music at Sand Harbor this summer as part of its annual music series. Get ready to dance in the aisles every Monday and Friday night at Sand Harbor, listening to blues, jazz, classic ‘70s rock, Latin rhythm, the Reno Philharmonic and more.
