Sneak peek at Summer Thyme’s new dinner menu

It’s sneak peek week at Summer Thyme’s new location at 231 Colfax Avenue in Grass Valley on January 6-12. Email reservations@SummerThymes.com.

Summer Thyme’s Bakery & Deli will begin serving dinner, and it will have an espresso bar and juice bar. A look at the new menu is here. The dinner items, along with others, are made with fresh, local ingredients, such as Roast Nieman Ranch Pork and Meat Loaf with Nevada County Free Range Beef. Vegetarian items include Zucchini Lasagna made with Bear River Pasta with homemade marinara.

Summer Thyme’s also will serve hot panini sandwiches for dinner, including Vegelicious (roasted veggies and melted provolone on fresh bread). It will churn out fresh baked bread daily.

We’re going to try the new dinner menu next week. We hope to see you there.

Summer Thyme’s —a pioneer of fresh, local food in the foothills — has expanded to a new location just down the street on Colfax Avenue, as we reported exclusively in April.

The new location, more than doubling Summer Thyme’s space to 4,600 square feet, features local artwork, a contemporary design and local hand craftsmanship.

Owner Amy Cooke has long been a proponent of using fresh, organic ingredients. Back in the ’80s, when she was chef at an inn outside Santa Fe, Amy grew her own herb garden.

Amy and her husband, Chamba, team up with local farms (such as Boxcar Farm) to supply their restaurant with fresh, local produce.

A growing number of local restaurants are expanding in the region. They include Kane’s Family Restaurant in Grass Valley, Lefty’s Grill, Harmony Ridge Market and Emily’s Catering & Cakes in Nevada City, Cafe Zorro in Loomis and Fifty Fifty Brewing Co. in Truckee, among others.
