Huck’s Hollow Farm: Pure crackers, pure flavor

The artisanal crackers are made with organic ingredients, are non-GMO and pack a massive crunch—all in plastic-free packaging. Some of them are gluten free.

Owner Theresa Huck has been baking the crackers in her home kitchen and now plans to use the restaurant-quality commercial kitchen at Tess’ Kitchen Store in Grass Valley to expand her business. Theresa also just received $20,000 in funding from a Kickstarter campaign, a growing trend for food startups.

Theresa and her husband, Jim have lived in Nevada County for 16 years. “We adopted our son, Josh, in 2001, and his allergies — to peanuts, tree nuts, chocolate and soy — were difficult to adjust to,” says Huck. “Like many allergy sufferers, we had to make much of his food homemade.

“This birthed an organic food company, called Huck’s Hollow Farm, which Josh named.”

Besides the crackers, in flavors such as garden rosemary and onion rosemary, Huck’s makes spice blends.

Huck’s products are sold at Tess’, BriarPatch in Grass Valley, Elliott’s Fine Nutrition in Citrus Heights, Taylor’s Market in Sacramento and Elliott’s Natural Foods in Sacramento, among other stores.
