Sierra Brewfest, Downieville Brewfest and California Craft Beer Summit

Our region will host popular beer festivals this summer, including one of California’s oldest. Here are some of them:

SIERRA BREWFEST, SEPTEMBER 5

Music in the Mountains Alliance presents the 26th Annual Sierra BrewFest at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley. As one of the state’s oldest beer festivals, the Sierra BrewFest is known for showcasing small microbreweries in Northern California. This year’s roster will feature more than 100 hand-crafted beers from some of the best microbreweries.

This unique microbrew tasting experience includes unlimited beer tastings, “baggo” tournament, and delicious food from some of the best food trucks and local restaurants. Attendees can taste delicious beer while enjoying barbequed oysters or fresh sushi.

This year marks the third annual “baggo” tournament, also known as corn hole or bean bag toss. Gather a team of friends to compete in the friendly tournament where you can win tickets to the 2016 Sierra BrewFest.

The “gotta dance” band, Power Of 12, a high-energy band of twelve musicians with a hot five-piece horn section, will be entertaining the crowd of more than 2,000 people.

DOWNIEVILLE MOUNTAIN BREWFEST, JULY 18

Beer enthusiasts attending the Downieville Mountain Brewfest will experience fresh mountain air, small town charm, music, food and some of the finest craft beers in Northern California.

About 20 breweries are participating, including ol’ Republic Brewery, Loomis Basin Brewing Co., Auburn Alehouse, Berryessa Brewing Co., Boneshaker Brewing Co., Out of Bounds Brewing Co. and Sutter Buttes Brewing.

Food from local restaurants and organizations and the blues music of Oso Blue will complement the casual atmosphere of the Downieville Mountain Brewfest.

CALIFORNIA CRAFT BEER SUMMIT, SEPTEMBER 11-12

More than 150 California breweries and brewing leaders will attend. Speakers include Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and Charlie Bamforth, professor of malting and brewing sciences at UC Davis, nicknamed the “pope of foam.”
