Center for the Arts’ “Operation Name a Seat” program sold out

We were glad to read on Facebook that the “Operation Name a Seat” program at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium is sold out.

The Center for the Arts has been raising funds to install 483 new stadium seats on the bleachers at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Auditorium equipped with backs and cushions for comfort.

For a $125 donation locals were able to honor a family member, friend or neighbor that has served or is serving in the U.S. Armed forces.

The seats have been ordered and will be in by Melissa Etheridge concert on Sept. 19 with an unveiling date to be announced for the plaques.

We had promoted the worthy program in our magazine’s spring issue — and were proud to do so.

We also bought a seat to honor my wife’s uncle. It reads: “Army Staff Sergeant Gordon Cech, WWII Purple Heart.”

“Your financial support helps ensure a vital renovation for one of our area’s most versatile venues, as well as a place to honor your veteran in the historic Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building,” read the letter of confirmation.

Good going to the staff of Center for the Arts.
