There is nothing like brass to celebrate springtime. On Sunday, April 20 at 2 p.m., InConcert Sierra presents the celebratory sounds of spring with the renowned Boston Brass quintet.

Boston Brass has been performing together for over 26 years and establishing a one-of-a-kind musical experience. From their exciting classical arrangements to beloved works and the best of the original brass quintet repertoire, Boston Brass notably treats audiences to a unique brand of entertainment, which captivates all ages. The ensemble’s lively repartee is touched with fun humor and personality.

“The program will be popular because brass is a favorite of so many. The music is joyous and tuneful with works that everybody knows and loves. Presenting programs that appeal and have familiarity for everyone has been a well-received theme this season. This will be another memorable Third Sunday in our chamber series,” said Executive Director Julie Hardin.

“These players are all at the top of their game. We’ve been looking forward to this performance for over a year, and it will be worth the wait.”

The program includes: Turina’s “Danza Fantastica,” de Falla’s “Fire Dance,” J.S. Bach’s “Wachet Auf,” Piazzolla’s “Primavera Porteña,” “Verano Porteña,” and “Libertango,” Kabalevesky’s “Romeo & Juliet,” Bernstein’s “One Hand One Heart,” Ewald’s “Quintet No. 1,” Gershwin’s “Summertime,” and Campra’s “Rigaudon,” with Ken Hardin accompanying on the organ. “Having our artistic director join the Boston Brass for Rigaudon is an added bonus that I’m particularly excited about it,” added Julie Hardin.

“InConcert Sierra’s annual Third Sunday chamber series includes six concerts featuring the hottest young up-and-coming classical musicians as well as well-known and popular performers and ensembles.” The April concert just happens to fall on the holiday of Easter. “In the past, when Easter has occurred on the third Sunday, our programs have attracted sell out crowds to hear brass ensembles and, in 2003, to hear an exceptional handbell choir,” said Hardin.

There will be a pre-concert forum at 1:15 p.m. hosted by Dr. Aileen James. This concert is being sponsored by Lamb’s Victorian Inn, Stucki Jewelers, Bea and Jerry Pressler, and Kathy Chastain and Gary Shannon. The annual Spring Teen Scholarship will also be awarded after intermission.
