National Geographic and Facebook plan first presidential virtual reality video for August, featuring Obama in Yosemite

“President Obama will become the first sitting President to participate in a virtual reality video experience,” the White House press pool reported this weekend. “The virtual reality video will feature the President’s visit to Yosemite and include a conversation with Don Neubacher, Superintendent of Yosemite.

“The virtual reality film, shot by National Geographic, Facebook and its Oculus team, and Felix & Paul Studios, will be released in August to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks Service.”

In the exclusive interview, Obama called the National Parks “America’s Best Idea” as he walked through Yosemite with the National Geographic Channel’s Explorer host Richard Bacon. An excerpt is here. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first national park in America.
