Sierra Starr’s Cab Franc receives more honors

Sierra Starr’s newest “Rising Star” Cabernet Franc release, for 2014, has received a 90 point score from Wine Enthusiast magazine. The wine also earned an “Editor’s Choice” award, defined as a “product at any price with unique qualities that merit special attention.”

Our magazine highlighted Sierra Starr’s Cab Franc in an articled titled “Cab Franc: ‘The next big thing’ in Sierra Vintners’ wines” in 2015.

“This is our second 90pt score for our Cab Franc in a row,” said Sierra Starr winemaker Jackson Starr, also a wine judge and certified sommelier.

The home Cabernet Franc vineyard, (planted in 1998) is beginning to produce some really wonderful Cabernet Franc, Starr added.

“This 2014 is rich, dark, and opulent with a wonderful aroma and a nice long finish,” according to Sierra Starr’s website. “This wine has a very rich mid palate and shows why Cabernet Franc from this area is destined to be a star. We have produced 5 consecutive vintages of gold or double gold Cab Franc, along with two 90 point scores. This is a wine of pedigree and quality.”
