Tahoe Central Market, for fresh, regional produce, opening in December

A new market is opening in Kings Beach on Tahoe’s North Shore where you can find fresh, local, organic produce and organic dairy products.

In December, Tahoe Central Market & Deli will open its doors at 8487 North Lake Blvd, next to Plumas Bank.

Tahoe Central Market will use locally sourced, family owned suppliers and you can even order your CSA Community Supported Agriculture boxes there too. They feature the highest quality all-natural deli meats and cheeses, along with a soup station and juice bar.

Hours are planned for 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily.

It is part of a growing trend to offer fresh, local regional produce in Tahoe — this time from the owners of Produce Plus, which we’ve featured in our magazine.

Produce Plus is owned and operated by the Bob Habeger family, long time North Lake Tahoe residents.

They are dedicated to supplying restaurant chefs with year round, seasonal, specialty and whenever possible, local and organic produce.

“Produce Bob’s” Truckee customers have run the gamut: Best Pies; Burger Me; Cottonwood; Dragonfly; Jax; Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats; Pacific Crest Grill; Pianeta Ristorante; Wagon Train; and Stella Restaurant at the Cedar House Sport Hotel, among others.

Tahoe Food Hub also is expanding its farm-to-market food program, and Tahoe House Bakery & Gourmet is celebrating 36 years.
