Tahoe ski resorts welcome two feet of fresh snow

“Storm total snow accumulations: 12 to 24 inches above 7,000 feet, with 6 to 12 inches between 6,000 and 7,000 feet, including Lake Tahoe. Highest accumulations will be along and west of Highway 89 and above 7500 feet in Mono County. Two to six inches east of Highway 395 in Mono County,” according to the National Weather Service.

It is a boon to the ski resorts in Placer County and Nevada County CA, which are rebounding from a prolonged drought. “Winter is baaaaaccck!” said Visit Truckee’s Facebook page.

“That storm sure did deliver…Almost 2 feet to be exact! Our crew is hard at work getting the ski and sled hill ready,” according to Granlibakken Tahoe.

“To say it dumped last night would be an understatement,” said Northstar California Resort.

“Whoa — 20 inches in 24 hours & still snowing!” said Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows

This should provide the snow needed for excellent weekend skiing. Read “What’s New at Tahoe ski resorts in 2016” and “Five Tahoe ski resorts have more than 300 inches of snow.”
