Winners in Tahoe Concours d’Elegance Wooden Boat Show

CARNELIAN BAY, Calif. – The Tahoe Yacht Club presented 40 awards honoring the best of the best at the 39th Lake Tahoe Concours d’ Elegance Wooden Boat Show held August 12-13 in Carnelian Bay, Calif.  

Jean Ann, a 1939 19-foot Gar Wood custom Runabout owned by Jonathan and Jean Trevillyan of Acton, Calif., earned top honor receiving the prestigious “Overall Best of Show” perpetual award. This first-time Concours d’Elegance entry also received “Marque Class Best of Show” from among 30 other featured Gar Woods in its class. The restoration of this rare Gar Wood also earned Tim and Brian Robinson of Robinson Restoration the “Best Professional Restoration” perpetual award.

Other Best of Show Perpetual Trophies as scored by 40 professional judges were awarded to the following participants:

·         Miss De Meanor, a 1945 16′ Runabout, customized and modified from a Stephens Bros. potato hull to true California hot rod fashion by Roy Converse, Oakland, Calif., and owned by Franc Casey of Carnelian Bay, Calif.  – “People’s Choice”
·         Heigh-Ho II, a 1941 Gar Wood 24’6″ American owned by Reid Dennis of Woodside, Calif. – “Best of Show 23-feet and Over”
·         Phantasy II, a 1938 Chris-Craft 19′ Custom Special Race Boat owned by Kirk Pumphrey of San Jose, Calif. – “Best of Show Under 23-feet”
·         Challenger, a 1926 Gar Wood 33′ Baby Gar owned by Daniel Morehead of Woodside, Calif. – “Thunderbird Most Unique Boat of Show”
·         Merganser, a 1936 Stephens 35′ Cruiserowned byWilliam and Susan Parker of El Dorado Hills, Calif. – “Most Elegant Boat”
·         Hae Dae III, a 1941 Gar Wood 25’6″ Custom Runabout owned byBill and Olga Keever of Yountville, Calif. – “Best Original Tahoe Boat”
·         Mountain Lyon, a 1932 Sea Lyon 28′ Runabout owned by Lee and Sandy Chase of Los Gatos, Calif. – “Best Non-Professional Restoration”
·         Material Girl, a 1948 Chris-Craft 20′ Custom Runabout owned by Bryan and Kara Turner of West Sacramento, Calif. – “Best Chris Craft of Show”
·         O Wood I, a 1967 Century 21′ Coronado owned by Ted and Marilouise Brayer of Reno, Nev.-“Best Century of Show”
·         Ciara, a 1970 Riva Ariston owned by Dirk Reed of Nevada City, Calif. – “Best Riva of Show”
·         Liberty, a 1932 Gar Wood 28′ Runabout with a 1650ci Liberty V-12 engine owned by The Vento Family of St. Thomas, VI – “Best Engine of Show”
·         Flat Top, a 1955 Chris-Craft 29′ Semi-Enclosed owned by country superstarAlan Jackson of Brentwood, Tenn.-“Best Party Boat” presented by Korbel Champagne Cellars(sponsor awarded trophy)
·         Madeleine, a 2011 Van Dam 29′ Gentlemen’s Racerowned by Robert and Madeleine Mount of Santa Rosa, Calif. – “Best Contemporary Boat” presented by Cole European (sponsor awarded trophy)
·         Miss Tahoe, a 1939 Gar Wood 28′ 936 Custom Runaboutowned by the Tahoe Maritime Museum in Homewood, Calif. – “Best Original/Preserved” presented by Gold Key Storage (sponsor awarded trophy)
