10th annual Wine, Walk & Shop in Truckee on October 5

Mark your calendars for the tenth annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop slated for Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 from noon to 4 p.m. Wine lovers, food connoisseurs and dedicated shoppers will once again indulge in delicious food samples paired with some of the finest vintages, as they shop and stroll in the historic western ski town of Truckee, Calif.

Celebrating a tenth anniversary makes this year’s event even more special than usual. The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop has become a flagship event for the town, bringing crowds of locals and out-of-towners alike to enjoy gourmet food and wine while wandering through the boutique shops that make this quaint mountain town so unique.

For only $45 ($40 in advance) per ticket, attendees will receive a special anniversary commemorative wine glass, an event program and map to participating venues, and five tickets for food tastings (additional food tickets may be purchased for $2 per ticket).

A fine selection of wines and beers from over 30 different wineries and breweries are available to sample, each placed in participating venues in the heart of downtown Truckee.

Tickets to the 2013 Wine, Walk & Shop event are now available online at www.TruckeeWineWalk.com. To celebrate this special anniversary year, ticket holders will be entered for the chance to win a luxury two-night stay at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno.

To win this fantastic prize, simply purchase an event ticket before September 1, and keep your fingers crossed!

Over the past nine years, the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop event has donated more than $25,000 to local non-profit organizations. Past partners include Tahoe Safe Alliance, Girls on the Run, and Sierra Senior Services.

An important component of the event is to give back to the community and support the many valuable non-profits in the area.

The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop is a fundraising event produced by Switchback Public Relations + Marketing, Inc. For more information on Switchback visit their website at www.switchbackpr.com.
This year’s Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop non-profit partner is the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Founded in 1994 by a group of committed volunteers, the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe has become a driving force in animal rescue and adoption for the Truckee region.

They are “dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoptions, community spay/neuter services and humane education programs.” They were also recently voted as the ‘Best Non-Profit’ in the annual ‘Best of North Tahoe & Truckee’ awards, nominated by the public.

September is an historic month for the organization with the much anticipated move to a brand new shelter in Truckee. Truckee does not presently have a public shelter for homeless pets, and without a facility the Humane Society struggles to find homes for the hundreds of animals they receive each year.

Tickets to the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop are now available for purchase online at www.TruckeeWineWalk.com and in-person at The Pour House and the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce.
