Naggiar Vineyards this fall: wine specials, Murder Mystery Dinner, “spook-tacular” Halloween gathering

Fresh off their successful Winefest summer season, Naggiar continues to offer complimentary live music on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9 p.m. through the end of October. But that’s not all the Naggiar family has planned.

On Sunday, October 20, Naggiar has joined with McClellan Marketing Group to offer their first Murder Mystery Dinner. This interactive comedy show, entitled “Murder with a Bullet”, addresses the deception and deceit of the recording industry with humor and song and lets the guests determine “who-dunnit”.

The show was called “a night of wild, silly, well done improv comedy” by the Sacramento Bee. Naggiar Bistro Chef Georgia Gross has prepared a dinner menu that is full of fall favorites to accompany the show. Seating starts at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $55 for the general public and $50 for Naggiar Wine Club members (includes dinner and show) and wine will be available for purchase by the glass and by the bottle.

Halloween will be celebrated Naggiar style on October 26 with their annual costume contest and spook-tacular party. No tricks but lots of treats – with music by A Stone’s Throw, complimentary appetizers, and a full Bistro menu. The evening begins at 6 p.m. and is sure to please a host of ghosts, goblins and ghouls. Attendance is free but an RSVP (via their website) is appreciated.

In November, an Italian dinner — complete with traditional entertainment — will be offered. Details and a full menu will be available soon as will a schedule of additional winemaker dinners, wine and food pairings, and educational opportunities for 2014.

Wine is always the center of activities at Naggiar, and this fall is no exception. They have introduced a new wine to commemorate the one year anniversary of their partnership with Sir Timothy Sainsbury.

Zio Luciano is a limited production, Bordeaux blend made from Sonoma Valley grapes but blended, bottled, and labeled Naggiar’s winery. Late November will bring back their popular holiday specials, with exceptional deals on wine by the case for both Wine Club members and non-members. Case specials make gift giving easy; wine can please even the most finicky of gift recipients.

To pair with Naggiar’s fine wines, their Bistro serves up farm to table cuisine on Fridays from 2-8:30 p.m., Saturdays from 12-8:30 pm, and on Sundays from 12-4:30 pm until the end of October. Chef Georgia’s innovative, hand crafted dishes are quickly becoming the favorite of many Nevada County (and beyond) residents.

So much so that the Bistro will remain open through the winter season for lunch and early dinners. Naggiar has undertaken a winterization of a portion its patio to accommodate all season dinning and looks forward to continuing to offer a comfortable yet elegant venue for fine food and wine along with occasional entertainment.

Naggiar Vineyards is located in South County at 18125 Rosemary Lane, Grass Valley. Call the Tasting Room at 268-9059 or visit their website to confirm hours of operation as the year progresses.
