Nevada City expected to invite Seahawks coach Pete Carroll to start its prestigious bicycle race

The Nevada City Council on Wednesday is expected to consider a resolutionĀ inviting Seattle Seahawks football coach Pete Carroll to participate as an official starter of the June 21, 2015, Nevada City Classic Bicycle Race, our magazine has learned. It also seeks to proclaim the day of his visit as “Life is a Daring Adventure Day”!

The agenda is here. As reported, ‘ol Republic Brewery of Nevada City is going to be the principal sponsor of the race. The Nevada City Classic is one of the premiere sporting events in the Sierra foothills, the largest and oldest bike race on the West Coast, and the second-oldest race in the nation.

In July of last year, Paralympic gold medalist Evan Strong, a Nevada City resident, was the Grand Marshal in the city’s Fourth of July parade.
