New video: Farm to table at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows
Tahoe Food Hub is a non-profit that is building a regional food system in North Lake Tahoe, thanks to its close proximity to year-round food production.
The farm to market program promotes the sourcing and consumption of regionally-produced, sustainably-grown foods. “The program represents small-scale producers within 100-miles of North Lake Tahoe and links them to wholesale buyers. It increases the distribution outlets for small producers and literally creates a hub for farms and markets to sell and buy local food,” according to Tahoe Food Hub.
Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows have purchased two new fully-outfitted food trucks to serve fresh, new dining options at the resorts this winter. The food trucks, named Mtn Roots, will offer an eclectic mix of regionally and sustainably sourced food to skiers, riders and other visitors.
Many of the sustainable menu offerings will be created in partnership with the Tahoe Food Hub.
