Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties win honors at State Fair

Glenn County has won Best of Show for their county exhibit. The Salvagno family, celebrated their 11th anniversary of building Glenn County’s exhibit at the California State Fair.

Although they have won Silver and Gold awards in the past, Glenn County has won the Best of Show Award for the second consecutive year. Member of the Salvagno family and designer of the exhibit, Terrie Barr, was near tears as she accepted the Golden Bear trophy on behalf of the county.

Colusa County, Contra Costa County, Inyo County, Lake County, Modoc County, Monterey County, Nevada County, Santa Cruz County, Sierra County and Yuba County.

Bronze Awards
El Dorado County, Mendocino County and Shasta County

Sometime in the 1870s, California’s counties began to compete for “bragging rights” by creating exhibits showcasing their part of the state. This competition continues and today the Exhibits are some of the most popular annual Fair exhibits among fair.
