Scoop: Harmony Ridge Market expanding to downtown Nevada City

The Harmony Ridge Market, five miles out of Nevada City on Hwy. 20, is expanding into the former location of the Nevada City Marketplace, the market has confirmed.

An opening is planned for January.

There will be fresh sandwiches, baked goods, produce, natural grocery goods and more.

The roadside market — with a friendly, down-home style — is a popular stop for locals and visitors going up and down Hwy. 20. We are regulars going to and from Nevada City and Truckee or Lake Tahoe.

Now Harmony Ridge will be in two locations: up on Hwy. 20 and in the historic downtown at 115 South Pine Street.

“Wow!” said one customer on Harmony Ridge’s Facebook page. “That’s perfect!! I can see you in the two places I always go: work/downtown, run/bike on Pioneer. Excellent. Thanks for thinking of me.”

“What was built many years ago to give passersby’s an option for a cold soda or candy bar has now become one of the best places to stop and get something to eat,” as the Harmony Ridge website reads. “The current owners purchased the market in 2004, and with a lot of work and limited sleep over the course of the last few years, have gone from a seasonal summer store to a year round business.”
