Scott’s Flat wins a “best of” honor as a gorgeous Northern California lake to visit

Scott’s Flat Reservoir ranks No. 1 in “15 gorgeous lakes in Northern California that you must check out this summer,” according to OnlyInYourState.com.

It comes after Scott’s Flat was named among the top 10 paddle boarding spots in California, according to Stand Up Paddleboarding magazine. Our magazine’s report on the paddle boarding honor for Scott’s Flat is here.

“Would you believe this lake is located at a 3,100 foot elevation?” the website reads. “Yep. It’s true. Over 850 acres of glassy water with over 7.5 miles of shoreline. Which means more than enough room to invite all your family and friends for a picnic!”

The article begins: “Have you been to one of our gorgeous lakes? Do you have your summer trips marked on your calendar? Northern California has a boatload of lakes to spend some time at. Feel like camping, or fishing, or maybe you want to go skiing or just relax on the shore? There’s so much to do and summer is just waiting for you to stop making excuses and finally do it. Here are our suggestion for some awesome summer fun.”

Scotts Flat covers 850 acres with a 7.5 mile-shoreline. Two campgrounds with 180 sites are located on the north shore of the reservoir. Store, marina, bait and tackle shop, gas, wheelchair access fishing pier, beaches. Camping facilities are reached via Highway 20 east from Nevada City and Scotts Flat Road. The Cascade Shores day use area is located on the south side of the reservoir and is accessible from Nevada City via Boulder Street and Red Dog and Quaker Hill roads. The other lakes honored by the travel website, in order, are: Lake Shasta, Abbotts Lagoon in Marin County, Goose Lake in Modoc County, Tioga Lake in Mono County, Lake Temescal in Alamedia County, Lake Aloha in El Dorado County, Snag Lake in Lassen County, Folsom Lake in El Dorado County, Lake Camanche in San Juaquin County and Amador County, Clear Lake in Lake County, Donner Lake in the Sierra Nevada, New Melones Lake in Tulomne County, Fallen Leaf Lake in El Dorado County and Mon Tempe Lake in Marin County.
