Tahoe Adventure Co. presents “Full Moon Snowshoe Adventures” this winter

Full Moon Snowshoe Adventures are back by popular demand. Watch the sun set and stars come out while you trek through a snowy and tranquil forest under the full moon. Increase your knowledge of astronomy with jaw dropping views of the Sierra Nevada illuminated by the moonlight. Cap it all off with some hot drinks, snacks and more stargazing.

“Full Moon Snowshoeing has become very popular, especially with guests who have experienced our other adventures,” says Kevin Hickey, owner of the Tahoe Adventure Company.

Several different Snowshoeing Adventures are offered by the Tahoe Adventure Company. Day trips cover a comprehensive safety talk and instruction, natural and human history discussions as well as snacks, hot drinks and an delicious lunch served at a scenic location.

“Snowshoeing is a great way to access the natural areas around Lake Tahoe,” Kevin explains. “It is just about as easy as walking and once on the trail, we’re away from any crowds and immersed in the natural environment. It is a great experience.”

There are many trail options to choose from, depending on your time frame and fitness level. Knowledgeable guides point out winter ecology, geology and other natural and human history along the way. You can explore at a leisurely pace, taking time to scout for animal tracks and bird activity or head to the top of a nearby peak for a great workout and awesome views.

Tuesday, December 17 —” Full Cold Moon,” 4-7 p.m.
Wednesday, January 15, 2014 — Full Wolf Moon,” 4-7 p.m.
Friday, February 14 — “Full Snow Moon,” 5-8 p.m.
Sunday, March 16 — “Full Worm Moon,” 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Trip Includes: Snowshoes, poles, hot drinks, trail snacks, knowledgeable guides, natural history discussions and permit fees.
