Tahoe resorts could get 1-2 feet of new snow this week

“After an extended mild and dry period, we will finally see a winter storm impact the Sierra and northwest Nevada Wednesday into Thursday,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The snow levels will start around 8000 feet “with a sharp drop” to 5,000 feet. The storm will include gusty winds — up to 100 miles per hour on the Sierra ridge tops, according to NOAA.

The storm should prepare the slopes for a superb weekend of skiing and snowboarding after a short week from the President’s Day weekend. Lake Tahoe resorts are bouncing back after years of drought.
