Tahoe Trips and Trails announces new speaker series, guided treks for summer

“How do you Tahoe?” asks Patty Baird, owner of Tahoe Trips and Trails, the outdoor adventure company based out of The Cedar House Sport Hotel. The question — part challenge, part tongue in cheek and all inspiring — is asked with a smile.

Tahoe Trips and Trails’ “#HowDoYouTahoe” campaign includes on-site inspirational speakers beginning on Tuesday, May 20 plus guided hiking and backpacking trips and self-led treks on the Pacific Crest Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail.

“It’s not just a state of mind, and it is more than a lifestyle,” explains Baird who emphasizes that the #HowDoYouTahoe concept is not bound by geography. “We use ‘Tahoe’ as a verb. It’s Tahoe our way – with authentic connections, magnificent vistas and opportunities for personal growth. We ‘Tahoe’ locally, in Yosemite and as far away as Utah.”

‘How do you Tahoe?’ is a prompt to experience the beauty and incredible personal growth opportunities available in the natural world.

“We live in a fast pace world where technology has changed the way we communicate and interact,” shares Baird. “We crave more true connections on a regular basis. Tahoe Trips and Trails’ helps fellow adventurers connect. All of us know, on a gut level, the magnitude of being in the right place at the right time with the right people.”

Speaker Series

Photographer Nicole Dreon, who has made a name for herself by capturing vibrant images of landscapes and people during solo travels around the globe, will present “The spirit of adventure” at The Cedar House on Tuesday on May 20. Hear tales will make you laugh out loud, think, reflect and dream about your next trip. See imagery from Dreon’s focus on woman athletes in eastern and central Africa.

“The Spirit of Adventure” benefits Adventure Risk Challenge, an organization dedicated to integrating literacy and wilderness programming to inspire and empower underserved teenagers from Tahoe and Yosemite. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for hosted appetizers (and a cash bar). The visually rich presentation will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $20 per person, are available from the Tahoe Teasers tab at TahoeTrips.com.

Additional events include “The Mind, Heart and Soles of Thru-Hikers” on June 17 and “Beer and Gear: Spotlight on ultra-light” with Glen Van Peski, adventurer and founder of Gossamer Gear on July 22. The latter events are co-sponsored by the evening’s beneficiary, Pacific Crest Trail Association. Each nonprofit co-sponsor will receive the majority of proceeds from ticket sales.

Guided Outdoor Adventures

Patty and her husband, Jeff Baird, are committed to inspiring people to immerse themselves in the natural world and take life list trips. Tahoe Trips offers evenings under the stars and the opportunity to experiment with ultra light backpacking alongside professional outdoor adventure guides who ensure that all logistics (including hikes, meals and resting places) are well organized.

The number of guests on each guided trip is limited to ensure the highest quality experience for every participant. For example, in Backpacking 101 and Beyond no more than ten people will spend two days hiking and two nights camping followed by an evening, complete with a memorable gourmet dinner at Stella, at the award winning Cedar House Sport Hotel.

This trip, designed for those who are curious, fit and eager to learn, is especially for active adults who are seeking an authentic backcountry experience with rigorous hikes and ultra light gear. Backpacking 101 and Beyond will be offered from July 18 to 21, July 25 to 28, Aug. 8 to 11, and Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, 2014.

In addition, Tahoe Trips and Trails’ offers a variety of hiking excursions in Tahoe, Yosemite and Utah. Visit tahoetrips.com or call (800) 581-4453 for details on the Best of the West in Utah, Tahoe and Yosemite Trekking adventure and Six Day Hikers’ Paradise.
