Two-story, 10,000-square-foot Grass Valley Brewery is in the works
Grass Valley Brewery — a 10,000 square-foot, two-story brewery, including a restaurant and bar with a beer garden — is being proposed in Grass Valley, our magazine has learned.
The project site — east of downtown Grass Valley — is located between Idaho Maryland Road and Whispering Pines Way, on the west side of Brunswick Road. The applicant is David Krikorian.
The project, detailed here, was disclosed in an agenda for the City’s Development Review Committee, which will consider the plan at its meeting on Tuesday, June 28. No formal action is planned.
A 79-room hotel at East Main Street-W. Olympia Dr., previously reported, also is on the agenda.
Grass Valley elected officials have been seeking to bring a brewery to town — noticing the success in Nevada City with ol’ Republic Brewery and Three Forks Brewery & Baking Co., as well as the boom in craft brewing. Ol’ Republic Brewery recently won a prestigious “best of show” honor at the California State Fair. Three Forks also won an award at the Fair.
Grass Valley Brewery includes a total of 68 on-site parking spaces. The site is in an area of commercial business park uses. The architect is Thomas Roman Architecture, according to the planning documents.
“As noted, the property’s Whispering Pines specific plan zoning designations are still unresolved due to potential legal challenge,” according to the staff report. “The outgrowth of the challenge will dictate the … process that the applicant will have to undertake to bring the project to fruition.”
“Staff recommends that the Development Review Committee consider the conceptual site plan … and make recommendations on the plans that should be addressed prior to submitting a formal application.”
