United Way of Nevada County’s 7th annual BBQ Battle is August 22

BBQ teams will be firing up their grills this Thursday, August 22nd for the 7th Annual United Way BBQ Battle which takes place at the Gold Miners Inn/Holiday Inn Express in Grass Valley.

The teams, including the Food Bank team; “Bradas of da Rack”, Uptown Salon’s Barber-Q-ers, Byer’s Leafguard team “Byer’s Smokin’ Squirrels, Gold Country Community Services’ “Grill Meisters” and “The Meat Spinners” are all preparing to compete for prizes in the United Way BBQ Battle. There will be meat tastings of all types from baby back ribs to BBQ chicken.

This is a great fun family event. There will be two judging categories; one decided by the populace and the other decided by a small group of “critic’s choice” judges. This year, there will be a new category, the “United Way Team Spirit Award” which will be given to the team which embodies positive energy and creativity.

Entry in to the event is free. The cost for 3 tastes and a chance to cast a vote is $5. Enjoy live music from the group Sols while enjoying tasty bbq. There will be some great raffle prizes; including a Hawaiian vacation getaway Complete Wine Bar and a portable grill. Tickets for the raffle are available now and during the event; you need not be present to win.

All proceeds from this event go to United Way of Nevada County’s Community Investment Fund to be allocated to United Way’s three community Impact areas of Education, Income and Health.
