Art & Soul ArtWalk is Sept. 16 in Truckee

TRUCKEE’S ARTS AND CULTURAL scene is booming, adding a new dimension to its popularity as a destination for outdoor recreation. The area is home to events such as the Lake Tahoe Music Festival, Autumn Food and Wine Festival, Music in the Park, and events at Art Truckee and other galleries.

The 3rd annual Art & Soul Downtown Truckee ArtWalk combines visual art, live music, artist demonstrations, craft beer tastings, small bites and more in the historic downtown. On Saturday Sept. 16, 1-6 p.m., Art & Soul takes over downtown Truckee’s sidewalks and the plazas with sculptures, live music and artist demonstrations.

“Visitors and locals alike love Art & Soul,” says Cassie Hebel, executive director for the Tahoe Downtown Merchants Association, which presents the event. “It showcases the Truckee-Tahoe local artisan community from amazing photographers, oil painters, jewelry designers and musicians to culinary artists.”

Stroll through Art & Soul’s 30 stops celebrating Truckee’s artists. Ticket holders enjoy interactive artist demonstrations, craft beer and wine tastings, and small bites of local fare. Many locations provide shopping and drink discounts.

Tickets for Art & Soul are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Group tickets are also available (four tickets for $120). Advance tickets can be purchased at HistoricTruckee.com or downtown at Cooking Gallery at 10084 Donner Pass Rd. A portion of the event’s proceeds goes to Arts for the Schools.

The Truckee Downtown Merchants Association is a nonprofit association of local businesses in Truckee working for the economic, social, cultural and environmental vitality of Historic Downtown Truckee.

Founded in 1972, the group advocates for downtown historic preservation, beautification projects, and infrastructure improvements, as well as the recruitment and support of small businesses. The organization also sponsors community events and has donated thousands of dollars for local scholarships.
