InConcert Sierra: An exceptional 2019-2020 season

UNDER ARTISTIC DIRECTOR KEN HARDIN, InConcert Sierra has put together another “musical feast for the senses” for its upcoming season. It includes popular classical musicians and up-and-coming talent. One concert transports concertgoers to Venice, while others feature musicians from New York’s renowned Lincoln Center. The season includes:
Sept. 15, InConcert Sierra Orchestra
Conductor Ken Hardin presents a light-hearted program of some of classical music’s most popular works. An afternoon of greatest hits and lesser-known masterpieces.
Oct. 20, Pianist Michael Brown
Winner of a 2018 Emerging Artist Award from Lincoln Center and a 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Brown is an artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He is praised as a brilliant young talent.
Nov. 17, Venice Music Project
Accomplished soprano Liesl Odenweller and musicians playing on period instruments (or re-creations to reanimate the tones of the Baroque era), create a transporting experience.
Dec. 14-15, Sierra Master Chorale and Orchestra
Chorale Director Alison Skinner conducts a festive program that includes Rutter’s “Magnificant.”
Jan. 19, 2020 Escher String Quartet
InConcert Sierra’s principal cellist David Speltz, also the father of Escher cellist Brooke Speltz, joins the esteemed quartet to perform Schubert’s “Quintet for Strings in C Major.”
Feb. 16, Violinist Paul Huang and Pianist Helen Huang
Paul Huang received the prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists. Helen Huang is an accomplished soloist and chamber music player. The two (no family relation) are “elegant and esteemed collaborators,” says The Boston Musical Intelligencer.
March 15, Violinist Arnaud Sussmann, Pianist Wu Han and Cellist David Finckel
Honored by Minnesota’s Pioneer Press for a “sweet and smooth sound that can hypnotize a listener,” violinist Arnaud Sussmann joins cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han — co-directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
April 19, Cantus, Vocal Ensemble
Hailed as “the premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States” in Fanfare magazine, Cantus is praised for their programmatic versatility, artistic excellence and charismatic personality.
May 17 & 19, Sierra Master Chorale and Orchestra
Chorale Director Alison Skinner conducts the annual spring concert.
