LeeAnn Brook Fine Art: Exemplifies our vibrant art scene

NEVADA CITY-GRASS VALLEY AND Truckee were named among 14 California Cultural Districts thanks to “a generous base of artists and makers,” as the California Arts Council said last summer. Contemporary landscape painter LeeAnn Brook is one of the leading examples.

LeeAnn Brook Fine Art, at 300 Spring Street in historic Nevada City, is among the first artist-owned galleries and combined studios in Nevada County. LeeAnn’s landscape series explore land, trees and water, reflecting nature’s inspiration for art. Her mixed media paintings combine collage and texture techniques to create a unique sense of depth and mood.

Kaiser Permanente recently purchased four of Brook’s large format paintings as part of a new installation. The paintings will be displayed as part of a permanent exhibition in the lobby of a new sports medical clinic near the Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento. The mixed media paintings by Brook included a 7’x4’ painting of the Yuba River. Kaiser has long been a leader in recognizing the value that art plays in healing.

After commissioning Brook to create a large abstract painting for his home, the owner of Capital Advantage Inc., a Bay Area wealth management firm, recently purchased six of Brook’s mixed media paintings for their new 2,000 sq.-ft. offices in Lafayette. Owner John Hayman felt the investment in Brook’s paintings not only enhanced their working environment, but also reflected the company’s values to their clientele.

Brook has been invited to exhibit her mixed media paintings at Consumnes River College in Sacramento. As part of a group show, Brook will be one of three artists who have been selected by gallery curator and department head Yoshio Taylor. The show runs the month of February.

LeeAnn won a “Best of 2D” award for her work at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival in January.
