What’s Happening – Nevada County, CA is the creative pulse of the Sierra.
Here are some examples of upcoming arts events:

The Center for the Arts presents the Fall Colors Open Studios Art Tour of western Nevada County, October 8-9 and 15-16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Open Studios is a self-guided tour through artist studios and fine art galleries in western Nevada County.

The Alexander Gallery at 225 Broad St., Nevada City, has an extraordinary exhibit of Frida Kahlo oil paintings by local artist Roseanne Burke. Her previous series, “The Cool Girls,” included 20 encaustic portraits of various women artists, but this series of oil portraits and prints is focused entirely on the remarkable Frida Kahlo. The Alexander Gallery exhibits and sells exceptional contemporary art and fine crafts from well-established local, regional and nationally-known artists.

A show of quietly refined photographs of images found deep in nature is being held at LeeAnn Brook Fine Art in November. The work of retired Nevada County Judge Frank Francis opens on Nov. 4, from 5-7 p.m. On Nov. 25-27, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the gallery’s annual Artisans Bounty features works from gallery artists including paintings, sculpted wooden vessels, handblown glass, ceramics, jewelry and more. LeeAnn Brook Fine Art is located at 300 Spring St. in downtown Nevada City.
