Russian ballet performs “Romeo and Juliet” and “Carmen” in Grass Valley

THE RUSSIAN NATIONAL BALLET Theater is visiting Grass Valley to perform “Romeo and Juliet” and “Carmen” on February 11, thanks to The Center for the Arts.

Fifty Russian dancers will perform the two classics at The Center’s Main Stage Theater in downtown Grass Valley. The group is visiting Grass Valley as part of a four-month, coast-to-coast tour of the U.S.

The Russian National Ballet Theater was founded in Moscow during the transition period of Perestroika in the late 1980s. Its founder is Elena Radchenko, the legendary Bolshoi principal dancer.

IMAGE NATION
The Nevada County Arts Council and Welcome Home Vets is holding an opening reception for Image Nation on March 10 as it tours eastern Nevada County at the Truckee Donner Community Recreation Center. STEAM EXPO
The 2017 Nevada County STEAM Expo takes place Sat., March 25, thanks to Nevada County Arts Council and the county’s educational leaders. It showcases projects that exemplify the intersection of science, technology, engineering and math and the arts, or vice-versa, in a creative and interactive way.

SIERRACAPELLA
A group that showcases local singing talent is performing at the Nugget Fringe Festival on January 28 and Nevada City School of the Art’s “A Matter of Taste” on March 18 at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center.

Members include Rod Baggett, choir director at Nevada Union High School; Heather Grover, music teacher at Nevada City School of the Arts; and Kim Foree, music teacher in the Roseville City School District.
