Strawberry Music Festival: camping, jamming and music under the pines

THE STRAWBERRY MUSIC FESTISVAL, one of the region’s premier music festivals, returns to the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley May 23-26, 2019. Since 1982, the iconic festival has drawn musicians and festival-goers from all over the country.

The four-day festival features a wide range of musical acts, children’s programming, workshops, and Strawberry’s legendary camp jam culture. The musical genres include Americana, bluegrass, blues, folk, swing, rock, Cajun, Celtic and gospel music.

This year’s Main Stage lineup features The Wood Brothers, Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, Richard Thompson Electric Trio, and Peter Rowan’s Free Mexican Airforce with Los Texmaniacs.

Others include The Dustbowl Revival, The California Honeydrops, Della Mae, David Myles, The Teskey Brothers, Cheryl Wheeler, and Marley’s Ghost.

The festival is located at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, a park-like setting surrounded by towering pine trees. It is located near the historic towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City.

Single day and evening, as well as 2-4 day camping tickets, are available for the 69th Strawberry Music Festival.

RV camping amenities include access to drinking water, permanent restrooms, shower facilities, and garbage and recycling. Strawberry staff is available to help campers find their spots and make them feel comfortable upon arrival.

The Strawberry Festival was held for decades at Camp Mather near Yosemite National Park. Following the devastating Rim Fire of 2013, the spring festival was moved to the Nevada County Fairgrounds. For tickets and information, visit StrawberryMusic.com.
