Foothill wineries win at California State Fair

Here are some foothill wineries that won awards at the California State Fair Wine Competition:

Avanguardia won a bronze for Due Fiore (a red varietal blend).

Clavey Vineyards & Winery won a bronze (Syrah).

Lucchesi won a gold for its Sauvignon Blanc.

Montoliva won two silvers (Sierra Bella, red varietal blend; and Teroldego).

Nevada City Winery won two silvers (Barbera and Gewutztraminer) and bronze (Viogner).

Sierra Starr won a silver (Chardonnay) and four bronzes (Sauvignon Blanc for 2011 and 2012, Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel).

Solune won four silvers (Barbera, Zinfandel, Rosé and C’est Si Bon port) and one bronze (Malbec).

Wise Villa won 11 silvers (Wisdom of Wise, a Bordeaux red blend; Touriga National; Chardonnay; Syrah; Sangiovese; Cabernet Sauvignon for 2010 and 2011; Rosé ; Midnight Delight, a white varietal blend, Torrontes, Petite Sirah) and four bronze (Tempranillo, Wisdom of Wise, a red varietal blend; Pinot Gris, Zinfandel). The Torrontes and Rosé were “best of class.”
