Julia Jordan of Grass Valley Downtown Association elected to California Main Street board

Julia Jordan, the executive director of the Grass Valley Downtown Association, has been elected to the board of directors of the California Main Street Alliance, a prestigious honor.

California Main Street is a nonprofit that focuses on enhancing the economic, social, cultural and environmental well-being of historic commercial districts in the state.

In 1986, California joined a growing national movement to improve the quality of life in America’s towns, cities and neighborhoods — and the Main Street program has been instrumental in that effort. It was developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Member cities range from Arcata to Cornado and from Hollister to San Luis Obispo and cities in between.

Julia had worked at the Grass Valley Downtown Association for 9 years, before succeeding Howard Levine last year as executive director of the GVDA. Julia has a bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara and is an experienced marketer.

The Main Street Association’s other board members are from Hollister, Pleasanton, Fairfield, Oceanside, Livermore, Richmond, Coronado and Hanford.

We enjoy promoting and working closely with the towns of Grass Valley, Nevada City, Truckee, Auburn (Downtown and Old Town), Loomis, Foresthill, Lincoln, Penryn/Newcastle and Colfax in our magazine and companion website, SierraCulture.com, as well as the official Placer County Welcome Guide.

Grass Valley and Julia are among our favorites to work with: Professional, courteous and results oriented. Congratulations!
