Nevada Union High Scholarship and Awards Night

Students, parents, teachers, families and friends gathered in the Don Baggett Theater on Wednesday night for the Nevada Union High School Scholarship and Awards Night.

We presented the inaugural Sierra FoodWineArt magazine Journalism/Media scholarship. In the past I had presented an award on behalf of the Gold Country Cal Alumni Scholarship Association, but this time my wife Shannon had the honors. She pointed out, among other things, that now, more than ever, was a time to be supporting journalism.

The winner of the $500 scholarship was Nevada Union High senior Riley Newman. We enjoyed reading all the scholarship applications. The students’ achievements are a credit to themselves, their teachers and parents.

We look forward to honoring another student next year on behalf of our locally owned business.
