Full Circle Press in Nevada City
Judith Berliner grew up in Nevada City, worked in a printshop in Sacramento for 12 years, and returned to her hometown in 1991 and started Full Circle Press, whose customers are world famous.
“I’ve come full circle,” says Judith, whose vintage letterpress equipment was used by her father, renowned print craftsman Harold Berliner, more than 60 years ago.
Judith also exemplifies the “bring them home” spirit of a small town, along with coworkers such as Liz Thiem, who also grew up here.
Full Circle has crafted exquisite letterpress materials for Apple Computer, philanthropist Gordon Getty, celebrated chef Thomas Keller and his French Laundry restaurant, and San Francisco event planner Stanlee Gatti, renowned for producing high-profile weddings, parties, fundraisers and other events.
The print shop also supplies brides-to-be, event planners and celebrating families with wedding invitations, birth announcements, anniversary cards and more.
Printing in the Berliner family began more than 60 years ago with Judith’s father, Harold. She is one of eight children.
Harold also was Nevada County’s longtime district attorney from the ’50s-’70s, who co-authored the famous Miranda Warning in the ’60s. Judith’s first job as a teenager was to print the officers’ names on the Miranda Warning cards on a small hand-fed press.
