Jernigan’s Tap House and Grill hosts beer & food pairing on September 8

Jernigan’s Tap House and Grill is offering a very special SLO (sustainable, local, organic) beer and food pairing on Sunday September 8, 2013 at 6 p.m. at their 123 Argall Way, Nevada City location.

This event features unique pairings of craft ales and lagers. Locally grown organic produce will be center stage with fresh vegetables from Boxcar Farms, Greg’s Organics and other locally sourced foods. Breweries represented include some of the most noted in the region, along with Nevada County’s Ol’ Republic Ale.

Jernigan’s is sharing its appreciation for local farmers and the amazing crops that are plentiful as we end the summer with this limited seating, pre-sold event for 28 diners.

Head Chef Mitzi Garnett has come up with some stunning and unusual ways to showcase the bounty of our region. Expect top quality, fresh local ingredients. “This meal is based on exceptional fresh products and superior techniques—not exotic fancy food ingredients,” notes Garnett, who works collaboratively with Sean Cox on the food and beer pairing.

Menu & Brewery Highlights

Though Garnett and Jernigan’s proprietor Sean Cox are tight-lipped about many of the details they have store for diners, one menu offering of note is a very special Dauphinoise Ratatouille, prepared using the techniques Chef Thomas Keller of French Laundry developed, painstakingly customized by Garnett.

Besides local organic produce, Nevada County Free Range Beef, Apollo Olive Oil and beer reduced balsamic vinegars will likely be used. (Note: menu is subject to change). Craft ale devotees can expect extraordinary contrasts and complementary brews, meticulously matched by Cox.
