Washington Post writes about Truckee foodie scene, including Stella
The Washington Post published its annual U.S. ski guide this month and singled out the foodie scene in Truckee. In particular, it pointed to Stella at the Cedar House Sport Hotel, which our magazine has recommended for years.
“The chef uses fresh produce from the restaurant garden to create simple regional cuisine. Entrees from $22,” the review read. “Part of Cedar House Hotel.”
Earlier this year, Stella Chef Jacob Burton was nominated for The People’s Best New Chef award by the national magazine Food & Wine. “We’re so enthused that Food & Wine has recognized Chef Jacob’s incredible talent, creativity and professionalism,” Patty Baird, owner of The Cedar House and Stella said at the time.
The Post also pointed to Manzanita at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, as “sourcing organic, locally grown meat and produce whenever possible.” We’ve also written about Manzanita in our magazine.
It pleases us to see the national publications give a “thumbs up” to restaurants that we’ve been recommending. We often notice that the coverage snowballs once a restaurant receives regional acclaim, particularly in the internet era.
Another example that comes to mind: Burger Me!, one of our favorite burgers, being honored by Esquire Magazine. In addition, Burger Me! was recently honored as one of the top burgers by Diners, Drive Ins and Dives recently.
