LOOMIS BASIN BREWING CO. OPENING A GASTROPUB
The craft brewery plans to open its gastropub and smokehouse this summer. The restaurant is at 3640 Taylor Rd. in downtown Loomis, next to Taylor’s burgers. It expects to offer over 14 beers on tap.

The pub and barbecue menu will feature pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, Tri-Tip, brisket and fresh salads. The restaurant will be open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. It also will feature special beer maker dinners. LoomisBasinBrewing.com

MORGAN’S LOBSTER SHACK EXPANDS TO RENO
The popular restaurant and fish market in downtown Truckee is opening a second location in mid-town Reno this summer. Menu items include “wicked fresh” fish (halibut, salmon, scallops and shrimp) and chips, lobster rolls, lobster and grilled cheese sandwiches. The market features fresh fish, lobster and shellfish. GOLDEN ERA’S NEW COCKTAILS
The Golden Era Lounge in Nevada City has added some imaginative craft cocktails to its menu. Examples include Bridgeport Bramble, which includes gin, lemon, raspberry syrup, cherry liquor and orange bitters; and Lola Montez, which is St. George green chili vodka, lime, ginger, Ancho Reyes and tonic. Some are blended drinks, such as “Cowboy Coffee,” which includes George Dickel whiskey, Averna, cold brew coffee, cream vanilla syrup and old fashioned bitters. GoldenEraLounge.com

STATE FAIR HONORS LOCAL BREWERIES
Ol’ Republic Brewery won the “best of show” award in the 2016 California State Fair commercial craft brew competition for its Dead Canary beer. The beer won first place in the light lager category. “This lager house is on a roll,” wrote the Sacramento Bee. Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Co. won a first place award in the Imperial IPA category for its Dynamite Double IPA.

STONE HOUSE OPENING IN SUMMER
The Stone House restaurant in Nevada City is expected to open in August, according to its new owners. The restaurant will offer imaginative food and craft cocktails. One food pairing is pictured: crispy Shiitake, fresh herbs, and puffed rice on a tofu emulsion. Others are whiskey-roasted onion, bacon jam, Gruyere cheese, and mustard-brined pork, turnip greens, Edamame cakes, and bourbon-mustard sauce.
